Privacy policy
Crew is a training app for small groups. This page says what Crew keeps about you, why, who can see it, and how you take it back. There is no public feed, there are no ads, and nothing is sold.
What Crew keeps
Your account: your email address, a password that is stored only as a salted hash, the name you chose, your birth year, your timezone, your unit and reminder preferences, a profile photo if you add one, and a record of which one-time tips you have already seen. If you use Sign in with Apple, Crew keeps the identifier Apple gives it, the email address Apple shares, which may be a private relay address, and a token Apple issues so that deleting your account can tell Apple to end Crew’s access. If you use Sign in with Google, Crew keeps the identifier Google gives it, the email address and the name Google shares.
Your training: your weekly plan, every workout and cardio session you log with its sets, weights, times and distances, the posts those create, your reactions, your crew membership, any pause you set, and the streak, points and achievements worked out from them.
Nutrition, if you are 18 or older and choose to use it: one current bodyweight, your daily targets with the sex, height, activity level and goal you give for them (each one optional on its own screen, asked together once after you sign up; they are kept inside your targets and deleted with them), the meals you save, your daily template and what you log. That one bodyweight is the only body weight on Crew’s servers; the weights you lift are part of the workouts above.
Habits. If you’re 18 or over, you can track cheap dopamine, and from 21, drinks and nicotine too. Your check-ins, and the day you stopped if you give one, are stored only on your phone and in your phone’s own backup; we never receive them. If you choose to share a habit’s milestones, we receive and store each milestone (for example, “30 days without drinks”) so your crew can see it, and it’s deleted with your account.
Your day on Home: the goals you set in Daily rep and what you tick off, the supplements you list and take, and the water you log are kept only on your phone, in Crew’s own storage, and in your phone’s own backup. We never receive them: they are never sent to Crew’s servers, never shown to your crew, never put in your export and never shown on the web. If you connect Apple Health, the water you log is also written to Apple Health (see “Apple Health” below).
Your device: a push notification token, if you allow notifications.
How the app is used: Crew records its own simple events, such as a plan being built or a workout being completed, in its own database. There are no third-party analytics or advertising tools in Crew.
Safety records: reports you file, and the people you block. If a report says your content puts a child at risk, that content is hidden from everyone while a person reviews it, and a copy is kept until the report is resolved.
Connection records: to stop abuse, Crew counts sign-in attempts and invite-link lookups for each internet (IP) address over a few minutes, and those counts delete themselves. Crew’s hosting provider also keeps short-lived request logs, which include IP addresses.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Crew reads three things from it on your phone: your steps, your blood pressure and your blood glucose. It writes one thing to it: the water you log in Crew. You choose each one in the system’s own Health permission screen, and you can change any of them at any time in the Health app’s sharing settings for Crew.
If you tap “Fill from Apple Health” in the food-target questions, Crew also reads your height, weight and sex from Apple Health, on your phone, to fill in those questions. You see each one and can change it. Only the answers you confirm, by going on to the next question, are saved with your targets on Crew’s servers, as any answer you type is; nothing else from Health leaves your phone.
Everything else Crew reads from Apple Health stays on your phone. It is shown in the app and nowhere else: it is never sent to Crew’s servers, never shown to your crew, never put in a widget and never included in your export. The blood pressure and blood glucose readings you log in Crew yourself stay on your phone in the same way. Crew does not use Health data for advertising and does not share it with anyone.
A card that suggests a yearly blood panel can be answered with “Not now” or “Got it”. Crew keeps only which answer you chose and when the card may show again, so another phone of yours does not ask twice. That answer holds no health information.
What Crew does with it
Crew uses this information to run your plan, to show your crew that you trained, to send the reminders you asked for, to keep accounts secure, and to understand which parts of the app work. It is not used for advertising, and it is not sold or rented to anyone.
Who can see what
A post you share is visible only to the members of the crew you shared it with, and a crew holds at most 10 people. A post you keep private is visible only to you. Your crew sees your name, your profile photo, your streak and whether you have posted today.
Nutrition is private. Your bodyweight, your targets, your meals and your logs are never shown to your crew, never appear in a post and never appear on a profile.
Your profile photo is resized and stripped of location data before it is stored, and it is served only to you and to members of your crew.
A crew is the people you invite with a link or a code, and nobody else: Crew never puts you in a crew with people you did not invite. You leave a crew whenever you like.
The companies that help run Crew
Crew runs on a small number of service providers that process data only to provide their service: Vercel (hosting and photo storage), MongoDB Atlas (the database), Resend (email), Google (Sign in with Google, if you use it), and Apple (Sign in with Apple and push notifications). Your data may be processed in the United States and in other countries where these providers operate.
Crew emails you only about your account: the link that confirms your email address when you sign up with one, password resets, the line that says an account was closed, and the one that says it was deleted for good. A reply to any of them reaches support@trycrew.fit.
How long Crew keeps it, and how you take it back
Crew keeps your information for as long as your account exists. In Settings you can export your account, your plan, your workouts, your posts and reactions, your crew membership, your pauses, your streak and points and your nutrition as one file, delete your nutrition data on its own, or delete your account.
Deleting your account closes it right away: you are signed out everywhere, your crew no longer sees you or your posts, and Crew sends you nothing. Crew keeps it for 30 days, and logging back in within them brings everything back — your crew too, if it still has room. After that, your plan, workouts, posts, photos, reactions, nutrition data, reports and tokens are removed from Crew’s systems, and Crew tells Apple to end its access if you used Sign in with Apple. There are two exceptions. If a child-safety report is holding some of your content when you delete your account, a copy of that content is kept, without your name or account, until the report is resolved, because the law can require it to be preserved. And an account closed for breaking the terms is not deleted: it stays closed, with its email address and its hidden posts, so that it cannot be opened again. The usage events your account created are kept without any link to you. Backups held by the providers above expire on their own schedules.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, move or delete your information, or to object to how it is used. The tools in Settings do most of this directly; for anything else, write to the address below.
Age
Crew is for people 13 and older. Crew asks for a birth year before it makes any account — with an email address, with Apple or with Google — and makes none for anyone younger. Nutrition features are available only to people 18 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to the address below and it will be removed.
Security
Connections to Crew are encrypted. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, sign-in tokens on the iPhone live in the Keychain, and photos are private files served only after a permission check. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, Crew will tell you.
Who runs Crew
Crew is run by Maxwell Alexander Cuenca, an individual, who decides what Crew keeps and why, as this page describes. Write to support@trycrew.fit about anything on this page.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, Crew will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
